Detroit Lions The Detroit Lions ,an American football team, are located in Detroit, Michigan. They compete in the ND(Northern Division) of the NFC(National Football Conference) in the NFL.The Ford Field is in downtown Detroit where they play their home games. To begin with,they are founded in Portsmouth, Ohio and named the PS(Portsmouth Spartans).Being an independent occupational team, the team started play in 1929 ,which isone of many such teams in the Ohio and Scioto River valleys. The Spartans formally became a member of the NFL in the 1930 season as the other area independents folded on occount of the Great Depression. Despite success within the NFL, they could not survive in Portsmouth, the NFL's smallest city. In 1934 the team was purchased and transferred to Detroit. The Lions have got four NFLC(National Football League Championships), the last in 1957. They have yet to make themselves fit for the SB( Super Bowl). Since winning the 1957 championship, the team has been suitable for the post-season only nine times in the 50-plus years and has won merely one post-season game in that span. The 2008 Detroit Lions was the only team in NFL( National Football League) history to lose all sixteen regular-season games. Going 0-16 in the 2008 season, they had gained all of the four pre-season games. Since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, they are the only second team to lose without a tie .
